Professional skills: Collaboration; communication and presentation; experimentation.

This was an exciting UAL cross college show organized by MFA Year 2 students where proposals to show previously made work were requested to submit for entry into a selection procedure.  The Conflux team was a PG group of students from Wimbledon MFa CSM MA Innovation Management and Chelsea MA Graphic Communication Detailed plans of dimensions and scope were required by the curating team (Goldsmiths College Curating MFA  students) and for selection to an art industry panel of experts.

I understand that there was UAL funding as it was a cross-college enterprise.  I submitted my piece “Raptio” which I had previously shown as a projection of a video of my folding 219 large screen prints.

I learnt from this the benefits of letting curators envision your work differently: I performed the folding at the PV and then the previously filmed performance was shown on an iPad.

  •   I learnt that tech heavy shows need a lot of preparation, and tech run throughs.

  • All artists as usual were required to invigilate, although there were some problems with no-shows.

  •  However, there was a fairly low footfall, despite excellent social media, press release and Timeout advertising it.
