Bustons

An installation of 5 metres printed and dyed calico cloth with two antique dress display forms

Bustons is a collaborative piece developed with Nicole Price for the Breast Screening Unit in the Kentish Town Health Centre. It is a 5 metre x 1.2 metre calico panel screen printed and dyed, and an installation of 2 dress mannequins from iconic local clothes shop "Blustons" which had recently closed after generations of continuous service.

The piece examines and plays on the connection with the rag trade, and changing attitudes to feminine fashion, body image and ageing over the past 50 years.

Influences for the development of this piece came from Lousie Bourgeois, Kiki Smith and Annette Messager.
