Installation of 24 x 10 cm diameter clear resin hemispheres with embedded found objects

Shiny objects found in the street when looking for my ring.
I am working with the idea of a moment, an emotion fossilised in time: there is a fleeting hope which is then lost. I embedded these objects (24) into clear resin hemispheres.
I was interested by the work "Bonjour" of Icelandic performance artist Ragnar Knartannssen where something almost happens, again and again.
A couple of months ago I lost a gold ring which had been made by a jeweller who melted down both our gold wedding rings, and redesigned them into a ring for my middle finger. I discovered at work that I had lost it, so I walked home, then back to the office, then home again (a total of 10 km) checking the road, and under cars. Each time I saw something glinting (a bottle top, silver paper, a screw) I had a moment of hope, which then evaporated the moment it became clear it wasn't the ring. I ended up putting the things in my pocket.
