Nash Scar Intervention
In August 2018 in the course of the Wimbledon artist camp at the Sidney Nolan Trust, I undertook a project in the landscape of the borderland of Herefordshire and Powys.
The work built on my previous stay at the Rodd where I had started to work with fleece, from the shearing shed, and stones and cairns. I found that there were a number of disused quarries, and some still being actively worked. Nash Scar quarry had been used to produce easily compactable stone which has been used as construction hard core for the local M5 motorway.

Growth
The stone dates from the Silurian period, much younger than the nearby Cambrian era rock. It is rich in fossilised fauna. The quarry is currently dormant.
